Jer-mee-lah
Boss - Mother - Educator - Marketer - Graphic/Web Designer - Crafter - Community Impact Specialist - Lifelong Learner

Jermelle Matthews is a blackbelt native from Uniontown, AL in Perry County. She is an educator, creator, ed tech enthusiast, marketer, community impact/engagement specialist, graphic designer, crafter, and all around BOSS! Her tenacious spirit has afforded her the opportunity to gain experience in education, marketing, community engagement, video production, business start up, and social media strategy. Most know her commonly as Jay.
Roles across Jay’s career include Project Coordinator and Youth County Agent at Tuskegee University, Scholarship Advisor and Instructor at Auburn University, and a member of the marketing team as Community Impact Specialist for a leading EdTech company working with hundreds of teachers throughout the US and Canada.
While working with youth at Tuskegee University, she was the energy behind increasing the participation and structure of the Youth Empowerment Summit. A conference held over two days on campus for over 200 high school students from the various nine black belt counties. Later even adding a mini schedule for chaperones and teachers to attend sessions concurrently with the youth summit attendees.

Years later after accepting a job with Auburn University and then resigning to embark on a new journey with EVERFI, Jay was instantly traveling around the country, meeting new people, and learning new things that would change the trajectory of her future as an entrepreneur, educator, and community engagement/impact specialist.

She has also been featured in Black Businesswomen Rock and member of Buy From a Black Woman.

Jay is a graduate of Auburn University earning a Bachelors in Mass Communications/Radio-TV-Film in 2009 and later a Masters of Education in Instructional Technology from Auburn University Montgomery in Summer 2013. Not taking a break and starting her Education Specialist degree in the Fall of 2013 and completing in Fall of 2015 receiving her EdS in Adult Education with a Graduate Certificate in Extension Education. Currently ABD, she still has plans to eventually immerse herself in ethnographic research and complete her PhD in the future.

Jay is now the founder of Boss Mom Enterprise and Lead Graphic Designer at MJM Creative Innovations. However, she attributes her greatest accomplishment to being the mother of 7 year old Leah. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
